EU Customs Reform 2026

Customs is changing, and businesses need to start preparing now.

The European customs reform has reached an important milestone: on 26 March 2026, the Council of the EU and the European Parliament reached an agreement on a major overhaul of the Union’s customs framework. This reform notably provides for a new European Customs Authority, a European Customs Data Hub, and a more modern approach to data management, risk management, and customs controls.

For me, the message is clear: customs performance will no longer depend only on the final declaration, but increasingly on the quality of the work done upstream:

👍 quality of product information

👍 consistency between the invoice, packing list, and transport documents

👍 document preparation

👍 anticipation of risk points

👍coordination between stakeholders

In other words, pre-compliance and pre-clearance are becoming even more strategic.

This is exactly the logic behind how CTB Group supports companies:

➡️ prepare trade flows, secure the reliability of documents, structure entry into Europe, and reduce operational friction.

In a more digital, more centralized, and more demanding customs environment, the question is no longer simply: 🤔 “How do you clear customs?””

but also: 🙂‍↕️ “Are we ready upstream to present a solid, consistent, and usable file?”

👏 That is where much of the future efficiency of the process is decided.
