Brazil → European Union corridor

Exporting from Brazil to the European Union: what changes in 2026

Three European regulations come into force in the same year. Your European buyers will ask you for data no one has ever requested before. We prepare it with you, before shipment.

Three European deadlines that affect you

EU–Mercosur agreement, applied since 1 May 2026

Duties come down, but only if origin is proven. A poorly drafted origin declaration and the tariff benefit is lost, or reclaimed later from your buyer.

Deforestation Regulation, from 30 December 2026

Coffee, soy, beef, cocoa, timber, rubber, palm oil. Without plot geolocation and usable due diligence data, your European buyer can no longer place the goods on the market.

Carbon border mechanism, definitive regime since January 2026

Iron, steel, aluminium, cement, fertilisers. Your client must declare the emissions actually embedded in your products. They will ask you for figures your teams have never calculated.

Reviewing an export file before shipment

What your European buyer will ask of you

  • The tariff classification of your products, consistent across your invoice, your NCM code and the European code used on import.
  • Proof of Mercosur preferential origin, established under the rule specific to the product rather than by habit.
  • For the Deforestation Regulation: geographic coordinates of plots, production date, chain of custody down to the shipped lot.
  • For the carbon mechanism: embedded emissions per tonne, calculation method, installation data.
  • Transport documents and an invoice that say exactly the same thing as the rest of the file.
  • A contact able to answer you in Portuguese and to deal with Europe in its own language.

What we prepare with you

Your products, your flows, your European customers and the regulations that actually reach you.

Check

What your documents say today: invoice, packing list, certificates, origin, transport.

Build

The file your buyer expects, in a format they can use directly in Europe.

Coordinate

With your despachante, your freight forwarder and the European importer, so everyone works from the same version.

A clear scope

What is included

  • Tariff classification and preferential origin analysis.
  • A compliance file ready to send to your buyer.
  • Origin declaration templates and control points before each shipment.
  • Direct dealings with the European importer, in their own language.

What is not included

  • Lodging customs declarations, in Brazil or in Europe.
  • Verification or certification of emissions data by an accredited body.
  • Registering your company in European systems on your behalf.
  • Laboratory analyses and product testing.

CTB Group steers customs compliance and governance; the filing itself remains with the representatives appointed by the company.

Frequently asked questions

We have been exporting to Europe for years. Why change now?

Because it is your buyers who are changing. The Deforestation Regulation and the carbon mechanism shift the burden of proof upstream: it is no longer a customs office that stops you, it is your European client who can no longer buy without your data.

Are you a despachante aduaneiro?

No. We lodge no declarations, either in Brazil or in Europe. We prepare the file and coordinate those who lodge it.

Do you work in Portuguese?

Yes, in Brazilian Portuguese, as well as French, Dutch, English and Spanish. That is precisely the point: your European buyer and you finally have the same contact.

When should we start on the Deforestation Regulation?

Now. The deadline is 30 December 2026, and collecting plot data from your suppliers is by far the longest part.
